Communication

Communication is truly an art. And like a work of art, it can require some interpretation to gain full appreciation of what is being presented.

The opportunity for misunderstanding is tremendous. Personal experience, filters, context and preferences help shape the message sent, as well as influence the message received. And since no two people have exactly the same experience, filters, etc., communication can get messy. Add in tone, body language, facial expression and choice of words, and you’ll have several possible translations.

That’s particularly true when emotions are mixed in. Hearing stops, and misunderstanding erupts.

Whether between two people, within a group, or between one person and a group, there are methods that can help facilitate common understanding.

Learn how to:
Incorporate good practices into everyday communication.
Diffuse emotional situations.
Have the tough discussions effectively.
